Analysis of an observational documentary
The documentary is mainly made up of actuality shots as Dougie is doing his street photography or setting up the cameras and equipment he needs for the day it gives a very interesting insight as you see the whole story and the struggles he may face doing what he is doing. As most of the shots during the documentary were actuality it allowed us to see all the images that were taken whilst Dougie was giving the reason behind the shot and why he decided to take it, it also allowed us the see all the interactions he had with the people of whom the photos were take off and how angry some of the people were getting. Both jack and Dougie got to places such as Blackpool and brick lane and explore locations where Dougie has done photography before, as they explore photographs of his previous work are shown of the exact spot they're at which is really engaging for the audience and it allows them to see how different things and people may have changed over time. The photos also show a contrast between the day and the night life in Blackpool, in the documentary they walk around in they day time whilst showing the photos that were taken by Dougie during the night life previously, it just showed how people would get after a few drinks and Dougie was sharing his experience with the rest of the world thru his work.
