Workshops - Directing unit

Ken burns effect workshop.

In a workshop with Ferg, we were taught how to do the ken burns effect on still images in premiere pro. This was a very useful workshop as it taught me how to size images and move them around witch I did not how to do previously, it was a similar principle for sound as well, it has taught me how to make the volume louder or quieter depending on what I was trying to achieve.  This was especially helpful for the animatic as it gave me a lot more freedom in what I was trying to show and it gave the final animatic a lot more depth.

 3 point lighting workshop.
In a lighting workshop with Ferg, we went over all different aspects of lighting such as colour temperature, colour pallets,  different types of lights, shadows and angles.  This was helpful as it gave me a deeper overall understanding of lighting and what moods/effects I can create using different angles and the amount of light.  Lighting is very important in any type of filmmaking as it is one of the main reasons movies look the way that they do.  During this workshop, we also had the chance to test out 3 point lighting using our phones and light around the house for example daylight and flashlight. this was great as it gave a deeper understanding of how lighting works and how I can use it to my advantage.
