Final edit


No escape is a final edit for the script to screen unit. this specific script has been written by our teammate Ethan. Whilst editing the video I came across a few challenges such as the colour and audio, this was because both video clips were shot using different cameras in different lighting conditions. however, I was able to deal with this because of the previous workshops I've attended. When starting the course I have not previously edited before so the workshops genuinely helped me progress. This unit has also taught me how to do screenwriting, because of that I had a bigger understanding of how video production works and which areas I will need to improve on in the future. This unit was also really good as I was able to work with a great group which made me a lot better working in a team.

And as for the final edit, there are a lot of things I could improve on. this such as trying not to rush whilst editing and just improving the basic skills.

Short film review "Identity" by K.J. Adames

 In this review I will be going over K.J. Adames short film "Identity" which Is about about living in a society where everyone hides their true identity using masks. in the first scene of the film we are introduced to the main character which is the girl. we see her looking back at herself in the mirror and looking happy and proud. however that goes away quickly as everything starts going back in reverse and we see her emotions fade. this was a way to intrigues the audience on what's to come later. this was very interesting because for me as a viewer as it puts me in a weird uncomfortable feeling which intrigues me on what's to come. as the reverse finishes at 1:10 we now see the same girl in her school canteen but now she is wearing a mask and so is everyone else around her. As we cut to her we can see that she is very uncomfortable and unsociable as she chooses to sit on her own. from that scene we can also see that she is very different from everyone else as she is...

Mood boards  When studying William Wordsworth's composition on Westminster Bridge, I decided to concentrate on two lines of the people, one of which is "The beauty of the morning; silent, bare." For this part, I've decided to take it literally and capture the sunrise of a beautiful morning, but I'm still undecided about the location I'd like to use for my shoot; however, the images above are what I was thinking of going for. I had the idea of the sun and the moon meeting in some way to tie the two very different ideas together. One way the two could be linked is through a flickering light, the idea of a lightbulb flickering and exploding or shutting off, and the entire mood of the adaptation changing and turning into a type of horror. The second line that I wanted to highlight was "The very houses seem asleep," since it reminded me of abandoned houses, which have a horror connotation. Final evaluation directions

 The directions unit I thought was very interesting. there has been a lot of things that I have learnt and tons of skills I have improved on. I have learnt how to storyboard, work with different lighting, I found out different things a director has to focus on that I had no clue previously. I enjoyed doing the storyboard as it was a way of getting my ideas on paper. another part I thought was really helpful was the workshops as they're not just for the directions unit, the skills I have learned for example the lighting can be incorporated into almost any other unit and it is just a big part of the film in general.    one downside of the unit was the fact that we were in lockdown so it was quite hard to focus and just get things done during the period, this also got us away from the filming part which would have been very interesting just to see the outcome and the difference between the scene you chose and the final outcome.
