Workshops

Editing workshop "Zero to hero"

Zero to hero was another editing workshop by Ferg. During this session we learned how to put together a sequence more efficiently. We got given a task of creating a short one minute edit with the interviews and b rolls provided.

During this session we explored quite a few thing which would help us produce better quality edits more efficiently one of those being, managing audio channels. This was really helpful as i now knew how to remove the background noise from each clip and manipulate audio in the way I wanted.

when editing the video I decided to only include the clips from the 2 winners of all the races as I helped me help it to a minute long. using the interview of the drivers I removed all the background noise to so it would sound better in the outcome, I done that by deleting a few audio channels as I learned earlier. I also added videos on top fo the interview to keep the transitions smoother. One thing that I really liked about the whole edit was the transition between the two racers interviews using the shimmering title.

If I did the edit agin one thing I would try to improve on would be the voice over as on some of the clips I feel like they didn't really fit as well as I thought they would.

                                                      Thinker editing worksop

When starting the edit I was quite confused as I didn't know how to approach the clips or even what order to put everything in, as it was my first time ever editing video. However I quickly go the hang of it. whilst listening audio and the dialog I started to figure out what I wanted to do with the clips provided.

in the audio he talks about how he was always a social thinker which infers that he only learned an thought about things when he was with others, and as time when by and he read more and more books he started to drift away and became more isolated, he was enjoying reading and being on he's own.

when editing i tried changing the clips on the beat of the audio to make it flow a lot better, for example the b tool of the book shelf,  it worked well however if I did it next time I would try and make it less delayed as it took away from the actually video.

Im still really happy with the outcome as it is a first edit I've done.
